What a difference a day makes! I feel SO much better today than I have the last three days! As my surgeon told me, recovering from spine surgery is a bit of a roller coaster ride; going up for a few days and then down a little on the following ones.
I was doing really well until four days ago when I pushed the limits, taking longer and faster strides on my walks than I should have and ended up back in pain every time I moved (it seemed) and on pain pills.
So I diligently went back to following the rules my doctors told me to abide by and voila! today I was able to stand in line at the DMV to renew my driver's license (oh, so much fun!) and then walk the isles of the grocery store with virtually no pain! I took it slower and did not overdo it.
And that is my advice today to anyone going through recovery from spinal fusion surgery.
